Saying goodbyes

Another year is going to roll past us very soon. 2006 should be busy packing up its bag and baggage and maybe some will be sending it out with a tearful eye and some with a big smile happy to get rid of the guy who seemed to create nothing but chaos. How would you be bidding this guy a goodbye? I for one think I'll be saying farewell to the guy with a mixed feeling.I'm happy to usher in a new one but also sad to see him go. This year is a very significant one for me. It was such a mixed bag,there were highs and lows,excitement and ecstasies,loneliness and tears,goofiness and fun all in all a very memorable year. From the beginning to the end it has made me cruise through a rollercoaster ride.

I was nothing but a happy go lucky,impulsive,stubborn,hot headed,always on the go kind of girl the previous year and then came 2006 and I found myself cast into a role of a mom which turned out be a whole lot bigger deal that I thought it would be. You know everyone tells you how to take care during pregnancy and how things will change once the baby arrives in the picture but really no one can tell you how BIG a change that is going to be. Everyone paints the rosy picture first but never tell you how tough the going can get at times. You have to work it out through the mistakes and learn from them. You will make mistakes,you will lose control,you will breakdown at times,you will try hard to be all perfect and drive yourself up the wall. To me perhaps the hardest thing was to learn not to be so perfect and to let go of that sense of control. We were alone and far from our loved ones and both of us were amateurs. And I had to study and give 2 professional exams while taking care of the baby side by side.But now since a year has passed by we have made it good!I'm proud of myself and my husband.Myself for having achieved a level of patience which I never thought possible before, having given up being such a control freak ,learning to live with a dirty house, for managing to ace the exams while handling the baby and not let all that tension get to me, most of all enjoying the joys of life which comes from being a parent. I'm proud to see my husband who has changed from a carefree partying young man into a responsible and lovable dad who not only takes care of his little girl but also in dealing with her frequently-flying-off-the-handle mom !We have been rewarded generously with those wonderful gummy smiles,those tinkling laughters,those adoring looks,tiny hugs and sloppy kisses by a little angel who fills our lives with such brightness which we never knew before.

She made us step down the fast end of life to a slower lane and enjoy the things we had missed before. Thanks my little Ina,we owe a lot to you.You made our lives more meaningful than ever.

You have served as a alarm clock and woken up us at the wee morning hours and making your I-hate-wakingup-early lazy mama watch those beautiful sunrises she missed for so many years.

You have taught us how beautiful and wonderful day to day things are when we looked at it from your wonder filled eyes which we so often took for granted.

You have helped move our asses which spent wasting time on the couch watching the idiot box to move away from it and look around to appreciate how far we all have come and appreciate the wonderful life we have together.

You have brought out the sensitive and sentimental side of mom and dad which we had put on a back burner when dealing with the harsh outer world.

You have certainly made your dad and mom more careful drivers,we were driving now with such a precious cargo!

You taught your mom not be such a control freak and to let down her hair ,relax and take it easy

You have showed us how even simple things in life like even taking a bath or blowing bubbles or taking a walk in the park can be such fun

You have showed your mom how a little smile can make a difference to even a stranger's day.

you have brought out the kid in mom and dad and helped us relive our childhood

You have showed us the beauty of moonlight and starrry skies

You have made a world of difference with your tiny hugs on a hard day

You have helped us connect with so many people who seem to get drawn to you and your sincere innocent smile.

You have made us appreciate truly how much our parents mean to us and be thankful for all that they have done

You are the reason a grandmother got a new lease of life and hope to fight her disease so she can see you grow up.

You have made us both finally grow up and realise our responsibilities.

You have filled our lives with such pure abundant love that we feel blessed

You have moved our heart with your innocence in a way we had never known before

Hope you will always know how much you are loved and cherished and how very lucky we are to have you in our lives.


One of my friend always gave an analogy that being a parent is lot like sifting dirt,you do it everyday and every now and then you find those moments which strike like gold and which makes the journey worthwhile and so memorable.Those perhaps are the moments which I call the magical moments!and I've found so many of them!

I'm already getting nostalgic about 2006!As I said it has been a great year personally and we have a lot to look forward to in the coming year.I'm also thankful to the virtual blog world and the friends I have made here. You all know who you are and I wanted you all to know I truly appreciate that I met such wonderful people out here even in a virtual world. Hope everyone of you has a wonderful and fantabulous NEW YEAR 2007! Let this year usher in peace and harmony in the world around us.

Laugh,have fun,party hard,share a lot of hugs and kisses with the loved ones,don't drink and drive! And let's welcome the new year with open arms!

Hunting down Bargains

Being far from family for us here friends are our mainstay for support and they have become another new found family now.So come Christmas and any holiday we all huddle around together and have a good time.Yesterday ofcourse was the Boxing day so most of them were out hunting down whatever good bargains they found.They had found and researched it well in advance as to where the good deals were and there were quick and continuous calls made to and fro just to catch those stratergic places and who would go where:)The guys ofcourse were looking for bargains in some electronic and geeky computer stuff whereas the ladies were busy with the apparels and accessories stuff.This time around I refused to accompany them,I just wanted to snooze and have a lazy time at home.And who wants to trudge along a crying, babbling baby and go out in that maddening crowd,I didn't even want to deal with that.So after much pursuit and no luck they all gave up on me and started making the plans without me.I sat there listening to them as they made their action plan.One guy was stationed at the popular electronic store to hold the fort from 6 am for those good bargains.Another guy was stationed at another similar store so he could catch on the bargains just incase the other guy missed them.They ran out of one person to station at one more stratergic place and then there were many calls made and finally they found a guy who was willing to go there but he demanded some share!!everyone scratched their heads and decided that the share he demanded didn't quite amount to profit so they dropped him like a hot potato and proceeded without him.Well this was all done on 25th night!
Come next day morning alarms were ringing at 4:30 am at our house and my hubby not one to wake up anyday before 7:30am come even a natural disaster was up on the first ring(surprise!surprise)!All set and ready by 5:15am he was out to his station:) and then the next 6 hours I was seized by phone calls from each and everyone of them calling me up and asking me to check the so and so website again and tell them the directions,they told me this was my share of contributing to the team since I was not there doing it in person!So I spent the day instead of my dream of snoozing and lazing around just answering the calls and giving them their info from all those damn websites and catalogues!Finally I got a call that the mission was accomplished and there were only 2 casualities aka deals which they couldn't get their hands on.The girls were ecstatic and the whole gang came home in the afternoon ravenous for food but with big smiles on their faces and loads of shopping bags.They sat and admired their booties like a bunch of pirates admiring their loot(Spadoman,meet the modern day Pirates,we all have the Pirate blood in us):).I then whipped up a quick lunch and we all sat around and then they began sharing all their day's experiences. The girlfriends were so sweet,inspite of my refusal to join them they had managed to bag me some of the goodies and I had a great pair of dresses and a lovely pair of shoes which I had wanted for a long time,how can you not love such crazy folks:)There were funny tales as to how the girls had to watch and manage to wrestle out a lovely coat from another customer at the store who was also eyeing the item,how one store had refused to accept the gift card and how they all managed to convince her to finally accept it,how one guy managed to even get a free deals,how one more almost fought with another person in the line at one store or how they even had to steal out spots to park the car at the parking lots.But all was not hunky and dory,there were ofcourse disagreements,one friend got a nice earful from his wife(the other team member) for having gotten a DVD player when they already had one at home,one more friend felt the deal he got on his hometheatre was not good enough on second thoughts,one more girl was already thinking of exchanging her fur coat for another colour while the other contemplated whether she should have bagged the other bag she saw at "Guess".There were mock fights amongst the couples about why and whether the things the other half bought were over indulgence and some frivolous banter about how the day's events unfolded and there was a deeper discussion about what things would they want for next Boxing event!Whatever they had done they were all a team. There were some who really didn't have anything to buy but still had gotten up early and came to stand in the line for their friends and happily sat across my table grinning ear to ear and laughing and sharing everything.Looking at all of them around me and sharing the smiles and adventures I felt a warm glow and a nice and happy feeling. They are crazy,wacko and sometimes outrageous bunch of guys and girls but they are all adorable and I wouldn't exchange a single one of them for anything in the world.I also had a bargain on the boxing day,I got a day of fun and filled with love and laughter around me and I think that one too was a pretty good one!:)

Ho,Ho,Ho

It's been crazy these few days!Hence the blog break.I have had people coming over all the days and though I don't celebrate Christmas but I have so many of my close friends who are like family who do and so I have been busy with them and helping them around and having a great time.Yesterday my friend the lazy bum she suddenly remembered that she had some last minute shopping to do and hence dragged me into the mall.I hope everyone were wise enough to have done all shopping before unlike my annoyingly late friend.It was a tsunami of people out there that it was freaking crazy!We had to wade through sea of humanity to get to the store we wanted to buy from and a task which would have taken 30 minutes on a normal day took 3 hours to get done and back at the parking lot it was as if there was a car fest going on,this snap on the side was the actual scene!not to mention that it took us one hour just to search the car! It was unbelievable but my friend actually felt better that she had so many people who made her feel completely normal about shopping at the last minute!

Apart from all that its been a great time!Hope everyone else are also enjoying the festivities and loving every minute of it.May the Big man bring in a whole lot of goodies to the kids and ofcourse let their smiles(in above cases little tears) melt away the hearts and heal the pockets of the elders:)

Astrologically driven

I happened to read the news and found an interesting article which said there's been a study done which can now link our zodiac signs with our driving habits.Aha,that sounded intriguing and so I continued to read it all the while trying to analyse how true was it actually when applied to my friends and family and yours very own Fuzzy included.This conclusion was reached after studying around 100,000 North American drivers over a period of 6 years on the basis of study done by Toronto based InsuranceHotline.com.Umm...so the results were well researched good enough for me to verify them.
First the gist,they said Librans followed by Aquarians were the worst offenders for tickets and accidents.Leos and Geminis were found to be the best and safest.
Let's have a little test of our own shall we?

Hmm..now let me summon my candidates,there's my Leo hubby,Libran friend,Gemini friend,Capricorn father,another Libran mother,Aries collegue,Piscean uncle,Aquarian brother,Sagittarian neighbor and last but not the least yours truly Fuzzy the Taurean.
So first Leo hubby- According to the study Leo's are known for their huge egos and it makes sense that they would want to be the best drivers on the road.Hmm..actually got to admit,he is a very good driver,always obeys the signs,is always careful,never easily distracted while behind the wheels,well prepared and always starts out well planned.I can infact trust that he will take the family safe and sound wherever we are set to go with him at the helm.So he scores in this study and I agree in this case.Bingo,one score for the study!
Next is my Libran friend,according to the study Librans are not good at snap decisions,which could be disastrous in rush-hour traffic and hence they are the worst offenders.Hmm..actually she is quite rash,infact she is one of those people who once they take control of the wheel they let control go of their tongues,she swears like there's no tomorrow when she is driving.I cringe everytime I sit with her in the passenger seat and always take a magazine with me inorder to hide behind it whenever she ends up yelling at the top of her voice at the traffic and people.It's embarassing!She hates waiting at the lights,infact she hates waiting anywhere even to park,she honks a lot(Sorry V,I had to say this,I know you will understand...hope you do,or else next time I meet you you can swear at me)She has gotten the max number of tickets in our group and her car bears a tell tale marks of lots of narrow hits and misses.She even had an accident in an underground parking lot!Thankfully no major accidents and I pray there won't be any,she is too dear to me.Hope if we prove this study right she will dwell upon this and take more care.
Sorry mom(Libra),you know you are not that good driver but I love you:)
Ok,the next one in the list Gemini friend,so the study says they are no surprise given their dual nature ,impulsiveness and restlessness.Restlessness I agree,he is.Impulsiveness hmm..a bit I guess.Actually he does get a lot of tickets every now and then but we never had problems with his driving skills.He is not so focussed as my Leo hubby but he is fairly good.But he has been involved in a minor accident where he knocked down a motorcycle guy while trying to pass.Maybe not in the league with Libra according to me so I won't say they are the worst,I have seen other worst ones than him on the road ofcourse whose signs I'm unaware of(Hey A,I trust you buddy).So I will give a no to the study in this case.Thumbs down!
Now to the Capricorn dad,he features somewhere in between in the study,I would not agree with them placing in the first few spots,he is actually one of the safest and careful drivers I have seen.But he is not very comfortable behind the wheels given a choice he always prefers to be in the back seat belting out advises for us kids how not to drive rather than be the one in the front.So he is safe but not the most confident.Study score-Indeterminate

Another Aries Collegue whose "me" first attitude gets them to trouble.I have to agree(Sorry S,you are a sweetheart but you know your driving is not your best point) He has gotten into one major accident because go ahead guess it,yes because he wanted to get there first!He had to stay put in the hospital for a month and had a K wire inserted to fix his broken arm.Even after that he still gets behind the wheel but tries hard to resist his urge of trying to be ahead everytime.So one plus for the study.
My Piscean uncle,should I shouldn't I?so according to the study Pisceans are most likely to get slapped with a ticket because of their day dreaming nature.He is most certainly the mildest guy you would meet in person,but he is just not the rules obeying type,he is the only one I know who has jumped red lights often and absent mindedly has managed to even lock the car with the key inside the car lots of times,has lots of tickets(damn,the study was right on money on this one) but thankfully never involved in major accidents,he somehow manages to escape many narrowly.Uncle K,sorry have to agree with the study.That now makes me fearful of when my little one will take her licence,she is a piscean!Now my Aquarian brother who as per the study are tied up for worst offenders with Librans.I'm already smiling thinking about this.My brother drives as if he owns the road.He is definetly not a driver you want behind you or in front of you,he is safest when he is quite far from you perhaps the farthest as possible(Sorry bro,the truth hurts, I really can't deny that but don't forget to send me my christmas present:)I still love you!!) He is the multitasking guy who prefers to eat while he drives or chat away with a friend .He takes care of his car like a baby,keeps it the best condition possible,pays his tickets and fines without questioning:) he is just a little impatient behind wheels.So one more up for the study(Hey,it seems to be winning!)
My sagi neighbor,Mrs H she is one hell of a lady and a very safe driver.She is one of those drivers who are very considerate and co operative and a joy on the road.She is perhaps the one who I would trust to drive me safe and sound next to my Leo husband.She is bit slow on roads but very sharp and very seasoned driver.So I think she should have been ranked better than what the study shows.That's a thumbs down for the study.
Last but not the least,yours truly me Fuzzy!who according to the study makes mistakes because of her stubborn bull like nature.Stubborn attitude I admit,but I'm not that careless or stubborn on the road.I hate waiting but I won't be the one doing the honking when waiting for the next car to move(that has to be my Libran friends),I am not very kind to people who jay walk esp people who do that with their children more so when there's a good crossing provided for the same just a block away.I would put myself as a good driver and not the best or a great driver.I get by on the road without causing too much trouble to anyone.I haven't gotten any tickets so far(but then I've been driving in North American only for past 1 1/2 years but that's beside the point) haven't had any narrow escapes or any bad experiences.So I actually object being placed at the 4th position on the accident list and 6th on the ticket list or maybe it's allright.
Phew!I'm done with my listings.So how is the score so far?

Hmm..the study won in my little survey.So now what next?will we be filling out the extra specifications on our insurance forms for our zodiac signs and get rates fixed even on that basis?or you get pulled over by the officer who wouls ask "Your zodiac sign please" before asking for your licence?That would be preposterous.But maybe we can consider this when we get into the car with a friend or not a known driver.The karmic connections and astrological mysteries,they are fascinating to know but how much we believe and take in depends on each of us individually.I admit if I had to get in a car with 20 year old driver just maybe I would prefer and feel safer with a 20 year old Leo driver than a 20 year old Aries driver.

A hand that rocks the cradle

A 34 year old mother threw herself and her 2 1/2 year old son over a passing bridge onto the fast coming traffic lane of 401,she died on the spot and her son died while being transported to the hospital.She left no suicide note,she told no one,she didn't stop even after being persuaded by a passerby who stopped his car and pleaded.She hugged her son to her bosom and jumped.When I read the news I went through a gamut of emotions.Anger at what had befallen a young innocent child and perhaps sympathy at what really might have provoked a mother to take such a drastic step.I'm a mom myself and I could not even for a second think of ever harming my child so it baffled me out of my wits.She was said to have been under lot of stress and depression and having separated from the boy's father.
On the day she performed the ghastly act she was said to have appeared calm,collected,tragically determined and fetched the boy from his father's house,boarded a bus to the set destined place and performed the final act.There was no indication whatsoever of any bitterness about the separation,nor was there any domestic abuse,she had lived in a shelter for somedays but then moved back with her family.What drastic moment would have made her decide it was all enough not only for her but even for her son?What made her decide this was the best for her as well as her child who hadn't even begun to discover what life had to offer?I can understand that at times people are driven to brink of desperation and entertain suicidal thoughts.And some go through with it on a impulse of the moment and others might have premeditated on it and resort to it after exhausting all other avenues.But that doesn't make any suicide less tragic.

I don't know what would have pushed her to literally over the edge and to take such a momentous decision regarding her child's life.She was described by all her family members including the father of the diseased boy as a wonderful mother who loved her son more than her life.She was under depression but had no history of any psychosis.Did she feel that kid would not be loved or cherished after she was gone and hence his life would be miserable so the best way was to take him with her?Perhaps no one can answer these questions as to what made her do the thing she did.But for a moment I though of that child.The bond between the mother and her child is said to be the most sacred bond.It's a bond which is formed on unquestionable trust and abundant love.Maybe the said day the boy would have happily held his mom's hand and stepped into that bus,this was his mom a person he trusted more than anyone who would never harm him.Would he have been frightened when his mom took him over those rails of the bridge or did he even grasp the concept that he would be falling down into the zooming traffic lane in the next few seconds?I felt for the little guy.

This wasn't the first time I had heard of mothers who can kill.But everytime I'm confronted to face the fact that such things happen I feel sick in my stomach and feel ill.Can love kill?apparently it can.When I was in my high school one of the lady in the neighbourhood killed herself as well as her 2 kids by consuming poison.She had left a note saying she had no money to feed them,her husband had left her and seeing no means to continue a living she decided to take this step.For a long time it was a hot topic of discussion in the city.Can you justify taking lives which are not your own be it of your own kids?can love be so strong and cruel at the same time?
But no amount of whys which we can ask and perhaps find the answer in each and every such situation won't bring solace,lost lives never come back.I held Ina a little tighter yesterday as she slept and sent a prayer for the little soul hoping he had found happiness and peace atleast now.

I turned around to see whom she was waving at and then we saw,a image of a little baby in my arms which was being reflected on the glasswall of the lobby whenever a car passed through!Ina continued to wave at the little baby who seemed to wave back with the same gusto and enthusiasm right back at her and she squealed in delight!

Fuzzy's listology 1

Every sunday was a date day for me.It was the day I would anticipate the whole week just so I could get to spend some time with him.I would forget everything once he would strut his stuff on the small screen and would get lost in a world full of adventures and fun.That cute little guy who stole my little heart was Jerry,much to my brother's annoyance I would root for Jerry the mouse whenever he would out wit Tom.So started my love for animated characters.There are just so many of them I simply love that it's almost impossible to make a top favorite ones but I thought I'll give it a try.Before I attempt that I would say hats off to the people who create,colour and bring them to life on screen!They all have made me laugh so hard spilling my coffee all over my crisp white cotton shirt and not care a damn,made me smile even amidst of a bad murphy law governed day,made me cry snatching every available tissue in hand,and clap and sing with them as they grooved and danced.As a child every kid needs a bit of magic in life and every adult needs a little corner to feel like a kid again.So this is just my list,feel free to add on your own favorites too.

8.Popeye-He is the sailor man with a attitude.Known for his bulging forearms and every ready to eat can of spinach.He is in his own words "I yam what I yam and that's all what I yam" honest and hardworking.Ofcourse who can forget Olive who is the love of his life and all his efforts to fight for her.This was perhaps one of the most popular comic romances.He was not a stereotypical hero but he always got his woman.Jack Mercer was the voice of Popeye.This one is a classic
7.Genie of Aladdin-He is one darn cute slave.As a child I always wished for my own genie just like this one.He was not just any other genie but one who was such fun to be around.He brought the comic relief to the movie and infact I used to watch the series only to see the antics of genie.Robin williams who lent his voice to genie and truly brought the character to life in his typical style.Infact it's said that this was what paved way for other celebs to lend their voices to cartoon characters.I remember the famous scene where he says to Aladdin his three rules:

6.Donkey of Shrek-Donkey is the side kick of Shrek but holds his own fort.He is just so funny you can't help but adore him.He is scared of old bridges,enjoys parfait and is somewhat hypochondriac and he loves singing.He even ends up with half donkey and half dragon kids in Shrek 2.Did you know that Donkey was modeled after Pericles (aka Perry), a real life miniature donkey who lives in Barron Park, Palo Alto, California. The people from Pacific Data Images/DreamWorks did an online search for a donkey to study, and found one right in their neighborhood.Eddie murphy did such a excellent job in bringing this character to life.Some cool dialogues of donkey:In shrek 2 after they are transformed informs the princess ""shrek and i drank the magic potion, and now, we're sexy!!" and when he sees his half dragon kids "Look at my little mutant babies!I gotta get a job...!"Love it!
5.Syd of Ice age-he is that goofy talkitive sloth of the movie.Voiced by John Leguizamo this character is a riot.He befriends Manny the mammoth and Diego the sabretooth Tiger and the rest is history.He is simply too adorable.His lines are witty and funny.

Syd :"Hey, can you guys slow down a little? I'm dying here! [Vultures stare at him] It's just a figure of speech! [Syd runs off] or

4.Timon and Pumbaa of Lion King-Ok,so I'm cheating here by putting two characters together,but they can't be separated.Timon is a hyperactive meerkat whereas Pumbaa is a fat warthlog who is so trusting and sweet.Timon keeps making jokes at the expense of sweet Pumbaa and their friendship is what keeps them bound together.Timon was voiced by Nathan Lane and Pumbaa by Ernie Sabella.Their loyalty to Simba is inspiring and touching.One of the many wonderful moments between the two:
Pumbaa: Timon, ever wonder what those sparkly dots are up there?
Timon: Pumbaa, I don't wonder; I know.
Pumbaa: Oh. What are they?
Timon: They're fireflies. Fireflies that, uh... got stuck up in that big bluish-black thing.
Pumbaa: Oh, gee. I always thought they were balls of gas burning billions of miles away.
Timon: Pumbaa, with you, everything's gas.
3.Dory of Finding Nemo-I was laughing throughout the movie while watching this sweet character of a fish.Voiced by Ellen degeneres this fish is all fun and her inept memory is a constant source of laughs.She keeps confusing the names of Nemo and keeps losing directions and is highly paranoid.Loved this character.
Dory: Hey, what's wrong?
Marlin:What's wrong? While they're busy doing their little impressions, I'm miles from home with a fish who can't even remember her name.
Dory: Boy, I bet that's frustrating.
Marlin: Meanwhile, my son is missing.
Dory:Your son Chico?
Marlin: Nemo
Dory: Right. Got it.
2.Bart & Lisa Simpson:Ok,I cheat again but I do love them both equally hmm..maybe not equally I'm a bit more partial towards the smart aleck Bart.Bart is a self proclaimed underachiever ,he is a troublemaker but good at heart.He is arguably the most influencial and famous characters of the series.He is voiced by Nancy Cartwright.Lisa is voiced by Yeardley Smith.She is an extremely intelligent kid and she is most often the only voice of reason in the show.They both share a wonderful sibling relationship interspersed with occasional sibling rivalry.The whole show is absolutely wonderful.I am truly a fan of the show.In Bart's words it's "Ay Carumba"

Homer: Son, I'm proud of you! I was twice your age when I figured that out.
1."Drumroll"please and the coveted crown goes to JERRY the mouse.He is that small,adorable cherubic cheeky scheming mouse who always manages to outwit the cat Tom whenever he is cornered.Voiced by Mel Blanc the ever continuing duel between the two is a delightful watch and has I feel stood the test of time and till date continues to entertain us.And to me that magic never stopped and still makes me double with laughter everytime I see them both on screen.
That brings me to the end of my list,I would still have loved to add more there is Balloo of Jungle book,Fender of Robots,Alex the lion of Madagascar,Sulley of Monsters Inc,Woody and Buzz lightyear of Toy story hey it's just so tough making any list when I love them all!
